The smoke alarm must have outlived its expiration date, because it beeped every minute or so. The alternate room the clerk offered was still either dirty or in use, because the bed was unmade. The clerk said her computer didn't let her see which rooms were clean and which weren't, and that was the only other room available anyway. The clerk gave me a battery to change in the alarm, but it turned out the alarm was hard wired and had no battery (I don't know if it was supposed to have one). I unwired it and enjoyed the silence.

Where shall I start??? Booked room, called and spoke with Cheryl who said she blocked out room 115 for us due to our needs. Awesome. Not many hotels are willing to do this so it really made me look forward to staying there since we were going to be there for four nights. Arrived at hotel, finally after a long day driving. Walked in to office once I was let in through the doors which Cheryl had to let me in. Then she took 3 minutes or so to even acknowledge me and check me in. She was on her ipad/phone. She was not friendly, was rude and sicker than a dog. Coughing, sniffling, wiping her nose with hand and coughing into hands then touching papers to hand me, keys handed to me with her germs, etc. She barely said anything to me and when she did it was snarky. She was checking me in and said, "do you have any pets?" I said no and we don't smoke either (cover the fee lecture for smoking in non smoking room). She then said, oh we are a no smoking property which most hotels these days are. Then she said, "I will have security patrol your room tonight" and that raised a red flag for me as that is NOT normal for staying at hotels so I asked about the safety on premises like is it a safe place to stay in especially in the back up against a street that anyone has access to hotel. She didn't care for me to ask that and she said well no where is safe and I said that some areas are safer than others so was wondering how safe this area is. Is it more prone to issues than not. She seem surprised I was asking like no one ever asks that. She finally gave me our key for room and it was room number 109. Fine, Whatever, off to our room we went. Parked in the parking spots in front of our room that were very small, no disabled parking spots in that area and the only way to get my daughter to the room in her wheelchair was if no one parks in their spot so we can climp up the curb to the sidewalk along the rooms to our room. What the heck! I told Cheryl my daughter is in w/c. And if there are no empty parking spots to use to get her from room to car and back to room then in an emergency there is no access. You can barely walk inbetween two cars as is for a petite small person. Entered room and it smelled like smoke. Opened window which was extremely difficult to get open, left door open for a good hour and went to use the restroom. NO TOILET PAPER. I tried to call the front desk, phone doesn't work. Great. So got my daughter back in her w/c to stroll/walk up to the office to ask for toilet paper since they choose not to leave any in our room. It was impossible to get to office without walking through clouds of smoke. There was not a single spot on that property that you weren't breathing in smoke from all the smokers allowed to smoke on property, one step outside of their room away from building, etc. And Cheryl said this was a non smoking property. That is so far from the truth. So didn't get to the office because my daughter has respiratory problems and I get headaches from smoke from smokers it wasn't worth it. Back to room and no toilet paper. I finished checking out the room and the floors were so dirty and the counter in the kitchen. The towels were dingy and didn't look too clean. Neighbors were dealing drugs and using. This place is horrible. There were a few other issues but those were the main ones. We decided to change hotels the following morning. There was no way I was going to stay here with my daughter - very unhealthy, not safe, drugs going on and dirty. We had to be somewhere that morning so we left and came back and packed everything up and drove off at 4pm CST which I then called the front desk and told them we checked out early. Despite the cancellation policy being 6pm CST day of arrival which would mean the day we left was our day of arrival for that night they still charged me for two nights even though it should have been one. Not surprising. I don't care, I was so glad to be out of there and we found a hotel that was ten times better from staff being professional, caring, honest and grounds clean, a true non smoking property and safe! We ended up staying there an extra four nights beyond our first three nights.

Worst customer service and check in policies I have ever experienced.

I was checking into the hotel at 1245am and the front desk clerk refused my reservation because she told me that they don't check guests in after 11pm. I tried to call them earlier that evening and I couldn't ever get anyone to answer the phone. Worst customer service and checkin policies ever!! Do not recommend! I booked through Priceline and that was my first mistake because they had no problem refunding my money but would not book another hotel for me in any way shape or form. I will never use their service again nor do I recommend them to anyone else! BAD BAD BAD BUSINESS!!

Leaving today after staying at this property for a month. I booked 2 months but ESA corporate is closing 2 of the 3 building at this site for water damage / mold concerns, so the residents of those buildings are being relocated to other ESA properties. Me among them. This room was clean when I moved in a month ago, and there were toiletries present. No cleaning of the room (including changing of towels and bedding) was done in the following month, nor were toiletries provided. Potential residents of this property should know that the expense of cleaning the room (laundry, etc.) will be borne by them, in additional to standard rental costs. The self-service laundry machines ($2.50/load) and dryers (also $2.50/load) are in good condition. I didn't feel unsafe while staying here, but the staff evidently does because they walk the property with a bodyguard. Yes, I'm serious. Also the office is always locked and visitors have to ring a bell to be buzzed in. Security personnel mill about. Not sure if this last is reassuring or a cause for concern. I found the contents of the room I rented to be in good condition. (Those that would assume this as true haven't been to the Vantage Point Drive property. Brrr!). The furnishings were not new but neither were they beat to hell. The appliances all worked, as did the sinks, toilet and shower. Light sleepers will want to know that there are frequent sirens heard as the property is sandwiched between I-635 and a hospital Emergency Room. Didn't bother me, but FYI.

Writing this review solely to correct the list of "Property amenities" shown above. There is no "free breakfast" served and there is no "Laundry service". (There *is* self-service laundry, which a separate item in the Amenities list.) I don't insist on these amenities but I do insist that TripAdvisor characterize the hotels accurately.
